A Modern White Coastal Bungalow Transformation
The exterior of our home was quite an eyesore when we bought it, but I knew it would make a fun transformation.
The house was a muted green/gray color, which wasn’t awful, but I knew a few upgrades and a fresh coat of white paint would turn it into a modern white coastal bungalow.
The front porch was dark, dreary, and very uninviting.
We had the big column bushes removed, as well as all the plants in the front of the house because they were mostly overgrown and unshapely and I wanted to start fresh. We also had new windows installed. Our contractor, Neri (and crew) removed the ugly white grate on the front porch. And they were also able to cut out the dated sun shapes in the garage windows and make them a more simple and modern rectangle.
They fixed rotten, termite-damaged wood, painted the entire exterior and installed the lights, numbers, mailbox, and my favorite … the wooden Dutch door!
I’ve wanted a Dutch Door for so long and our weather here makes it a perfect fit for this house. Even though it’s technically summer now, the temperature is still in the 60s, so we live with the windows open. We haven’t even had to turn our A.C. on yet! I love being able to open the top of the Dutch Door and let the cool ocean breeze blow through the house. I also think it makes it more inviting to friends and neighbors.
So there you go! It was quite the transformation and I love the way it turned out. We’re still working so hard on the yard. There’s not much grass, lots of weeds and it’s overwhelming to me. Hopefully one day, I’ll have an update to share with you.
