Favorite Things Lately : Spring Edition

Well I definitely haven’t been doing a great job blogging, but I thought it would be fun to pop back in and share a few of my favorite things lately. And who knows, maybe I’ll get back into blogging more often! As much as I love small homes and minimalism, I got burned out on talking about it so much. There’s so much more to my life than minimalism, so I think my blog will be a little mixture of random things from my life from now on. That sounds like more fun to me! Let me know if there’s anything you’re interested in me blogging more about.

1. The Waterlogue App

I recently found out about the Waterlogue App and love it! You upload a picture and it instantly turns it into a fun watercolor painting.

As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your support.

I used Waterlogue to turn one of my favorite beach pictures into a watercolor and then I printed it, put it in a wooden frame, and hung it in the sunroom.

Below is the original. And although I love the original photo, I wanted it to be a little more whimsical and abstract for the sunroom.

Here’s my photo with the Waterlogue App.

I’ve had so much fun with Waterlogue… here are some more of my pictures I played around with:

2. Beach Life : Home, Heart, & The Sea

I came across this Beach Life book by Lauren Liess and have enjoyed reading it so much! All the pictures are inspiring, relaxing, and beautiful. It’s a perfect mix of calm nature scenes, beach family life, and interior design all wrapped up in one fun-to-read book.

In one chapter, Lauren shares their story of buying a tiny 800 square foot beach house and fixing it up for their family of 7 people and 3 dogs. She even talks about “living small” and “how to beach like a minimalist”. Her entire book is inspiring me right now!

3. Adidas Samba OG Wonder Quartz

I thought these Sambas were the cutest color… mostly neutral with a small splash of light pink…a perfect spring/summer shoe!

4. Pottery Pieces by Peyton

Peyton has been taking weekly pottery classes at a local pottery shop and she’s been making the coolest pieces. I loved these blue mugs that she made me! They remind me of the ocean and inspired me to bring a small splash of coastal colors into my mostly neutral home.

5. Slightly Choppy Flags

I’ve become slightly obsessed with Slightly Choppy’s iconic hand-crafted flags. Located in Newport Beach, CA, he creates colorful flags to connect people to their favorite beaches and locations across California.

There are so many options to choose from, but I settled on Blacks, Wedge, and Malibu flags to hang in Tyson’s Surf Shack. All of these locations have special memories for our family.

6. AYR “The Knockout” Jeans

I’m guessing you’ve seen the new barrel jean trend by now. Well, I tried on a pair of Free People barrel jeans, but I looked and felt like a clown. Some people can pull it off, but I didn’t feel comfortable in them. Then I found these AYR jeans with a slight barrel cut, but way less exaggerated. I first bought them in black and I’ve loved and worn them so much that I went back and also got them in blue.

They’re comfortable and easy to style up or down.

7. HOKA Transport Shoes

I think I am a little late to the HOKA fan club, but I finally tried them a few months ago and I’m hooked. I walk several miles almost every day and as much as I love how my New Balance 327 look, they just weren’t cutting it for my long daily walks. I guess I am officially old enough to buy shoes for comfort and not just style now. Do you have a favorite walking shoe?

Well, that’s all for now, but I’m hoping to be back again soon! Have a great week!

That watercolor app looks so awesome! I’m going to have to try it out. My favorite walking/running shoes are my Brooks adrenaline and Brooks ghost.

You would have a lot of fun with the watercolor app! I’ve heard good things about Brooks too… I’ll have to try those out next!
